JOY's Black BeautyD.O.B: 17.06.11 Sire: GM Conrad's In Black and White [Imp. USA] Dam: Donkey Magic Lyric Beauty is just that! Her mother was a maiden and had a lot of trouble giving birth to Black Beauty. I had to pull her out, and it was so difficult I hurt my back. While I rolled around in agony Lyric decided that she would prefer to kill her foal that lick it dry, so I threw myself on top of little Black Beauty to protect her from her mother, and I do believe God was watching and took pity on us both because a few minutes later Lyric realised that what she had originally thought was a wet black alien predator was actually her beloved daughter, and she began licking and their bond was built. So Black Beauty is special to me - if I had not been present at the birth I believe she would have died if not from being stuck at the shoulders, then from her poor mother's confusion about what she was. At moments like this everything can go wrong and if it doesn't that is a miracle - and we experienced one on that day! |

USA] Stunning black and white, and a very special boy as his mum has twice developed hyperlipidemia in late pregnancy, and we lost her last foal to it. This time we were fortunate enough to pick up the danger signs earlier, and managed to save this foal by daily doses of hormone to Mum since January. So pleased he is here safe and sound.
