Ever since I discovered that GM Conrad's In Black n White was bred by Bill Fisher, and that Bill Fisher has been breeding donkeys for decades and traces his bloodlines back to the original imports, I became fascinated with how he has managed to breed so many black and white donkeys, and even more curious about the spotted NLP donkeys we had only seen from his bloodlines.
We were fortunate enough to find, buy, and import Fisher's Painted Elaine and Splendor's Sophie in 2009 and 2010, and then to buy another six Fisher jennies at the end of last year. In April this year I was able to visit them and after viewing them and their progeny I have worked out which in 2011 and which ones to breed to appropriate jacks in Canada and which ones to bring out in 2012 or 2013. We are thrilled that Fisher's Nutmeg and her jenny foal by Fisher's King David will depart from Chicago to Auckland and then on to Sydney on 7 November 2011. We are hoping that Little Friends Tahiti and her jack foal and another Fisher bloodline jenny Peckard's Charm will be on a January 2012 flight, and that Fisher's Verle, Vonia, Showstopper, and Dark Nora will all be coming over sometime in 2012/2013. All of these jennies have been DNA tested and shown to carry the traits we are hoping to establish in our herd here. Below are 'Fisher's Teardrop' with 'Showstopper', and 'Tahiti'.

..and here's Joan, FREEZING in Canada!

More details to follow of Joan's new imports.
